“X-Men” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” director Bryan Singer is no longer attached to helm the “Red Sonja” film currently in development at Millennium Films.
The project, an adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s sword-wielding comic heroine, seemingly stalled last month but Singer had not been formally removed from the project at the time, despite multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
Today though, THR reports that Singer was dropped from the project because the production company couldn’t secure a distributor in the United States with Singer involved.
It’s unclear if the project will move forward with a new director involved. Ashley Edward Miller (“X-Men: First Class,” “Thor”) penned the script with the project originally planning to shoot in Bulgaria later this year.
