The endless series of old films being dusted off for small screen remakes next season continues this week as Paramount Television and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are teaming for a new TV series adaptation of 1980’s crime drama “American Gigolo”.
Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton starred in the original about a shallow, narcissistic Los Angeles male escort. When one of his clients is murdered, and another he was with at the time refuses to substantiate his alibi, he becomes the prime suspect.
Bruckheimer produced the original film and will executive produce the series. Paul Schrader, the original film’s director and writer, will serve as executive consultant.
