Bruckheimer On Upcoming Sequels

Jerry Bruckheimer spoke with Coming Soon this past week on the set of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and talked about the status of the recent sequels to his work that Disney announced the other month – namely further “National Treasure” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.

Bruckheimer says “We’ve sat with the writers and we’re working up the story and plotlines right now. They’re in the process of finishing ‘The Lone Ranger’ so they’re working on both of those simultaneously, same set of writers, Elliot and Rossio, who did all three ‘Pirates’ and worked on ‘National Treasure (2)’.”

Would he do any of it in IMAX ala “The Dark Knight”? “Absolutely. I’d love to do it, so let’s just see if we can work it through the production schedule with everything else.”

As for a fourth “Pirates” release date? “I think they’re pushing towards 2012. Hopefully we can make it we’ll see.” At present he’s working on ‘Persia’ due in 2010 and busy prepping the Nic Cage film “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”.

Finally, he shot down rumors of George Clooney playing the title character in “The Lone Ranger” movie in which Johnny Depp plays Tonto. Bruckheimer says “we haven’t decided who is going to play the Lone Ranger yet. Get a director first and then figure it out.”
