Broyles Jr. Adapts “Edgar Sawtelle”

William Broyles Jr. (“Cast Away”) will pen an adaptation of David Wroblewski’s acclaimed novel “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” for Universal Pictures, Playtone and Harpo reports Variety.

The story centers on the titular teenage mute who, caught in a long-standing intense family conflict, flees into the Wisconsin woods with three of the extraordinary dogs that his family raises and trains.

Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey, Gary Goetzman and Kate Forte are producing.
