Emily Browning (“The Uninvited,” “Lemony Snicket”) is replacing fellow Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska (“Alice in Wonderland”) in Julia Leigh’s “Sleeping Beauty” reports The Australian (via The Playlist).
Leigh penned and makes her directorial debut on the $10 million project which made the 2008 Black List for best unproduced screenplays. In the film, Browning would play a university student who becomes a prostitute that caters to a particular fetish.
That fetish? She’s a ‘sleeper’, spending nights in a drugged stupor in a special chamber where men get off with her unconscious body. When she wakes up, she has no memory of what is done to her.
Jessica Brentball is producing and filming kicks off next month in Australia.
