Former James Bond himself Pierce Brosnan and actress Amanda Seyfried (HBO’s “Big Love”) are in final negotiations to star in Universal Pictures adaptation of the popular ABBA musical in “Mamma Mia!” reports the trades.
The story revolves around a bride-to-be and her formerly rebellious mom (Meryl Streep) who raised her on a Greek island and never disclosed the identity of her father. The bride locates three men who might be her father and invites them to her wedding.
Brosnan will play Sam, one of three men in question, whilst Seyfried has snagged the role of the bride-to-be. The role gives him the surprising opportunity to belt out a duet of “S.O.S.” with Streep. He’s expected to shoot the role right before moving onto production of “The Thomas Crown Affair” sequel around year’s end.
The musical and film, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and penned by Catherine Johnson, features 22 ABBA songs. Shooting begins June 25th in London and Greece.
