Jeff Bridges is in discussions to star in the Coen Bros. remake of John Wayne 1969 western classic “True Grit” for Paramount Pictures reports Variety.
The story centers on a 14-year-old girl who tags along with an aging U.S. marshal, Rooster Cogburn, and another lawman to track the outlaw who killed her father.
The remake will be more faithful to the Charles Portis novel on which the original film was based and shifts the audience perspective to the viewpoint of the girl.
Scott Rudin (“No Country for Old Men”) will produce. Bridges last worked with the Coens on the 1998 cult favourite “The Big Lebowski”.
