Studios continue to remake properties left and right, and now producer Brian Grazer has revealed this week that he’s working on a new version of one of his earliest films – the Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah mermaid romantic comedy “Splash”.
Sitting down for an interview with CNBC, Grazer says he’s eager to revisit the material: “I’m actually doing ‘Splash,’ and I can’t say [anything more]. I’m actually going to do it from the point-of-view of…I can’t say anything about it. There’s a movie star that’s going to be involved, [but] I haven’t announced it.”.
He did go on to confirm the film will be an adaptation of the original treatment “Wet” which told the story from the mermaid’s point of view, but he adds “I can’t tell you the twist.” Grazer’s long-time collaborator Ron Howard helmed the original, no word on his involvement here.
