Brewer Goes From “Flow” To “Footloose”

Craig Brewer (“Hustle and Flow”) has been hired to direct the “Footloose” remake for Paramount Pictures reports Variety.

Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer starred in the 1984 original, which told the story of a rebellious outsider who moves to a new town where music and dancing are banned and proceeds to shake everything up. Brewer reworked Susannah Grant’s script.

Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical”) was previously attached to direct but dropped out late last year. “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford was previously attached to the lead role but has now left the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Recasting will begin shortly with filming to kick off in the Summer.
