Just over a week ago director Jack Bender was forced to depart the untitled fifth Jack Ryan project in development at Paramount Pictures and Skydance Pictures due to his already heavy workload.
Now, the studios have found a replacement – Kenneth Branagh according to Variety. The actor and filmmaker, who helmed money-spinner “Thor” for Paramount last year, is reportedly in talks to take over the gig. Should he sign the project would once again become a priority at the studio.
Chris Pine (“Star Trek”) is still attached to play Tom Clancy’s character while the likes of David Koepp and Steve Zaillian have done work on the script which aims to reboot the franchise which has seen four films onscreen including “The Hunt for Red October,” “Patriot Games,” “Clear and Present Danger” and “The Sum of All Fears”.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing which aims to begin production shortly after Pine’s commitments to “Star Trek 2” are wrapped.
