Branagh Considers Directing “Guernsey Literary”

Kenneth Branagh is said to be interested in directing an adaptation of Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows’ best-selling novel “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” at Fox 2000 reports Variety.

Set on a German-occupied island in the English channel during the Second World War, the story follows a group of eccentric locals who form a book club and how they come together and help each other during that difficult chapter in history.

Don Roos (“Marley & Me”) penned the script. Branagh has also been attached to an adaptation of Henning Mankell’s novel “Italian Shoes”, and is slated to shoot the third season of “Wallander” for the BBC during the next few months.
