Boyhood, “Li’l Quinquin” Top 2014 Film Polls

As we approach December, a bunch of ‘Best of the Year’ lists are about to start popping up online. Both UK-based “Sight & Sound” magazine and French publication “Notebooks on Cinema” have gone early with theirs.

Richard Linklater’s groundbreaking “Boyhood” topped the British one whilst Bruno Dumont’s “Li’l Quinquin” came on top of the French one. More interesting though is Jean-Luc Godard’s “Goodbye to Language” coming in second on both. Jonathan Glazer’s “Under the Skin” and Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Wind Rises” also made it onto both lists.

Other high profile films making at least one of the lists include “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Mommy,” “”Nymphomaniac,” “Love is Strange,” “Ida,” “Mr. Turner,” “Whiplash,” and “Birdman”. Here they are:
