Shout! Factory and Legacy Classics are teaming to produce three animated films based on several titles in “The Boxcar Children” book series.
These mark the first titles announced as part of Shout and Legacy’s long-term production partnership and film distribution deal for a slate of new family films based on famed children’s books. The initial plan is for at least four feature-length movies over the next two years.
The companies will work with publisher Albert Whitman & Company to launch the first movie timed to the 75th anniversary of the book series.
Gertrude Chandler Warner’s series consists of 150 books and has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide. More than 1 million schoolchildren read the books in schools across North America every year.
