Boston Critics & Documentary Awards Announced

George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” dominated the Boston Online Film Critics Association over the weekend, the film scoring four nods including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography and Score.

In the few categories it didn’t win “Creed” took Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan) and Supporting Actor (Sylvester Stallone), “Spotlight” scored Best Acting Ensemble & Best Screenplay, Saoirse Ronan won Best Actress for “Brooklyn,” and Kristen Stewart took Best Supporting Actress for “Clouds of Sils Maria”.

“Inside Out,” “Son of Saul” and “Amy” took Best Animated Feature, Foreign Language Feature and Documentary Feature respectively. The group also released a Top 10 list: “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Creed,” “Brooklyn,” “Carol,” “Spotlight,” “Clouds of Sils Maria,” “Bridge of Spies,” “The Martian,” “Anomalisa” and “Tangerine”.

Another group to hand out awards over the weekend was the International Documentary Association whose IDA Awards saw Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The Look of Silence” scoring Best Feature Award. HBO’s “The Jinx” scored Best Limited Series Award.

Other nods at the doco celebration were “The Russian Woodpecker” for cinematography, “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck” for editing, “Best of Enemies” for music, and “Listen to Me Marlon” for writing.
