“Borgen” and “Lucy” star Pilou Asbaek is set to co-star with Scarlett Johansson in Rupert Sanders’ live-action adaptation of the famed anime and manga “Ghost in the Shell” at Dreamworks and Paramount.
The story a female special ops cyborg who leads an elite task force called Section 9 for Hanka Robotics – a team devoted to stopping dangerous criminals and extremists.
One such criminal is known only as The Laughing Man whose vow is to wipe out Hanka’s advancements in cyber technology. Asbaek will play Batou, the best fighter in the section and second in command in the army.
Jonathan Herman penned the script and both Avi Arad and Steven Paul are producing. The film opens March 31st 2017.
