“Bohemian” Heads For $30M Opening

Full Trailer Bohemian Rhapsody

The Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” is reportedly heading for a North American opening weekend of up to $30 million on the first weekend of November according to early tracking figures.

That figure would make it the second highest music biopic opening ever, after the $60 million opening of “Straight Outta Compton” and ahead of the Tupac Shakur biopic “All Eyez on Me” with $26.4 million.

Rami Malek takes on the role of the band’s frontman Freddie Mercury in the film which Dexter Fletcher came on board to direct in December after Fox fired Bryan Singer from the project.

The film opens opposite Disney’s “The Nutcracker” which is on track for a $23-26 million opening, and the Tiffany Haddish-led “Nobody’s Fool” at $10-17 million.
