Blumhouse, Universal Sign A Decade Long Deal

“Insidious” and “The Purge” producer Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions label have signed a whopping ten-year first-look production deal with Universal Pictures. Blum will also produce content for Universal Television and Universal Cable Productions.

The deal means Blumhouse will bring its “Sinister” franchise to Universal’s Focus Features label, giving the studio control of the aforementioned three profitable micro-budget franchises.

Universal will release Blumhouse’s “Ouija” on October 24th, the Jennifer Lopez-led thriller “The Boy Next Door” on January 23rd 2015, the third “Insidious” film early next year, and the live-action “Jem and the Holograms” movie sometime in 2015.
