If there’s a horror or genre movie out, chances are producer Jason Blum’s name is on it. As the head of Blumhouse Productions, Blum has multiple projects in the works at all times including some notable titles like the upcoming “Unbreakable” & “Split” sequel mashup “Glass”.
Speaking with Collider this week, he describes the project as a superhero film, albeit a low-budget and different one:
“It’s a kind of superhero movie, for sure. I do consider it that, yeah. It’s very different. I would say it’s not a Marvel movie, but a superhero movie.”
He also touched upon the long-awaited “Spawn” reboot which creator Todd McFarlane is directing. Again he calls it a superhero movie, but not like what you’d expect:
“This Spawn movie is a kind of superhero movie, but a very different kind of feeling superhero movie. I like the idea of low-budget superhero movies. It’s cool.”
He also confirms they will draw upon a story arc from the comics, but wouldn’t go into which one.
One thing he is adamant about though is the in the works “Halloween” reboot and he makes a pledge that they will meet their intended October 2018 release. he tells The Wrap that if it isn’t:
“You can kill me. You can behead me. You can chop my hand off, the prince of horror, you can cut my hand off. That’s on the record.”
M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass” opens January 2019, the “Spawn” reboot is currently undated.
