“Blindspotting,” “Wilding,” “Life” Set Dates

Lionsgate has set a July 27th limited release followed by an August 10th wide opening for “Blindspotting,” the film which opened this year’s Sundance Film Festival starring “Hamilton” breakout Daveed Diggs as a man on the last days of his parole. He and his friend (Rafael Casal) navigate a series of tense situations in their neighborhood involving race and violence amid a rapidly gentrifying city.

IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to SXSW entry “Wilding” which will debut theatrically and on VOD on April 13th. Bel Powley stars as a woman who spent her entire childhood locked in an attic, under the care of a mysterious man she only knows as Daddy (Brad Dourif), and terrified of a child-eating monster that roams outside. Liv Tyler plays a small-town sheriff who frees Anna and helps her start a new life.

Finally, Amazon Studios has set “This is Us” creator Dan Fogelman’s new feature “Life Itself” for a wide theatrical release on September 21st. Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde play a couple at the center of this multi-generational love story spanning both decades and continents, from the streets of New York to the Spanish countryside – all connected by a single event.
