Blindspotting Gets A Starz Sequel Series

Starz is developing a half-hour dramedy series spinoff of Lionsgate’s acclaimed film “Blindspotting” with this follow-up to put the focus on “Hamilton” and “Midnight, Texas” actress Jasmine Cephas Jones who will reprise her role of Ashley from the film.

Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs, who starred in, penned and produced the original film, are both attached to write and executive produce the series. Jess Wu Calder, Keith Calder, Emily Gerson Saines, Ken Lee, and Tim Palen will also executive produce.

The series follows Ashley (Jones), who was nipping at the heels of a middle-class life in Oakland when Miles (Casal), her long-time partner and father of their son, was suddenly put in jail. The show would see her navigating a chaotic and humorous existential crisis after moving in with Miles’ mother and half-sister.

“Blindspotting” premiered at Sundance last year to rave reviews.
