Two brief rumors regarding Dennis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” emerged today, both offering potentially minor spoiler information regarding the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 seminal sci-fi classic.
The first appeared at The Terminator Fans who says that, according to a source of theirs, the new film will feature the return of a Replicant character from the original who will be “featured in at least 10 shots” and will return via CG VFX likely akin to those seen on a key character in “Rogue One”.
Will it be Rutger Hauer’s Roy Batty, Sean Young’s Rachael, or Daryl Hannah’s Pris? Whomever it is, will the original actor come back and be digitally de-aged (ala Michael Douglas in “Ant-Man”)? Could it be Ford himself playing a younger Rick Deckard replicant?
The other report comes from Birth Movies Death who says that Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard has been hiding out “in what remains of Las Vegas” in the film. This matches with the trailer which sees Ryan Gosling’s Officer K seeking out the long lost Blade Runner and finding him in a formerly opulent hotel in a desert wasteland.
“Blade Runner 2049” opens on October 6th.
