Before “Spider-Man,” before “X-Men,” it was 1998’s “Blade” that really ushered in the current wave of successful comic book movie adaptations. Even though it has been more than ten years since Wesley Snipes slipped on his Daywalker outfit in “Blade: Trinity,” the actor is still inexorably identified with the role.
With Marvel Studios now in control of the character again, there’s always the possibility of the vampire hunter returning. Appearing at Comic Con this week, Snipes was asked if he would return to the role and surprisingly he revealed to Deadline that Marvel themselves have been considering the possibility:
“The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”
Even if Snipes doesn’t return to the role, the actor says he’s definitely up for playing another comic book character:
“I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a ‘Blade 4’ or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else.”
Snipes will next be seen in a starring role in NBC’s new drama series “The Player”.
