Michael Smiley, David Threlfall, Ben Mendelsohn and Jodie Whittaker are set to join Jude Law on Kevin Macdonald’s submarine thriller “Black Sea” at Focus Features and Film4.
Production on the project just got underway in the UK.
Law plays a salvage submarine captain that goes rogue and assembles a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. The crew soon start to turn on each other as the mission becomes increasingly uncertain.
Also having just begun production is Alex Garland’s psychological thriller “Ex Machina” at UPI, DNA and Film4. Shooting is underway at Pinewood Studios in London before moving onto location filming in Norway.
The story centers on a young coder (Domhnall Gleeson) at the world’s largest internet company who wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to the reclusive CEO (Oscar Isaac). He soon finds he has to participate in an experiment to interact with a beautiful robot girl (Alicia Vikander).
