Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” opened last night to a very robust $25.2 million in Thursday domestic preview showings.
That figure is roughly double the previous February record of $12.7 million set by “Deadpool,” and is the second biggest preview gross for a Marvel title – behind only “Avengers: Age of Ultron” with $27.6 million.
Additionally, the film has grossed $47 million in foreign box-office since it began rolling out on Tuesday February 13th in select overseas markets. Most of the rest of the world gets the film today.
The film is projected to debut to as much as $170 million over the President’s Day weekend.
