Billy Bob Thornton has signed on to produce the baseball feature “Three Nights in August” says the trades.
Based on Buzz Bissinger’s nonfiction book, the story looks at a 2003 series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, taking the readers into the mind and dugout of Cards skipper Tony LaRussa.
John Loar will produce. Thornton is now meeting with writers and directors, and could take a role in the film though it won’t be LaRussa.
The aim is to shoot as early as next year.
