Bill Paxton is in negotiations to star opposite Daniel Radcliffe in BBC Films’ “Grand Theft Auto,” the true-life account of the fight between the creator of the popular “Grand Theft Auto” video game series and a Miami lawyer who wanted to ban video game violence.
Radcliffe plays Sam Houser, the British co-founder and president of Rockstar Games which created that game along with other franchises like “Max Payne” and “Red Dead Redemption”.
Paxton will play activist attorney Jack Thompson who made his name blasting media companies for pushing rap and sex onto the airwaves before turning his attention to video games. He frequently targeted Houser and was ultimately disbarred in 2008 for inappropriate behavior.
Owen Harris (“Black Mirror,” “Misfits”) will helm the project from a script by James Wood that is based on David Kushner’s book “Jacked”. Shooting begins next week.
