Kathryn Bigelow (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Hurt Locker”) is set to direct the crime thriller currently dubbed the “Untitled Detroit Project” at Annapurna Pictures.
Mark Boal penned the script which is set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating 1967 summer riots. Boal reportedly spent over a year exploring systemic racism in urban Detroit for the project which aims to be released on the 50th anniversary of the riots in 2017.
Bigelow, Boal, Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman will produce. Casting begins in March ahead of a shoot starting this Summer.
