Despite the failure of the 2005 film reboot with Nicole Kidman, CBS is pursuing a small screen remake of classic sitcom “Bewitched” says The Live Feed.
The original starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha, a witch who marries a mortal named Darrin (Dick York, later Dick Sargent) and attempts to become a typical suburban housewife.
The network has ordered a script from Sony Pictures Television which “Miss Congeniality” scribe Marc Lawrence has been hired to pen. Lawrence will also executive produce.
Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, who produced Nora Ephron’s 2005 film, will also produce this which is expected to be a more straightforward remake of the original series.
