Paul Bettany and Thomas Kretschmann will join the royal biopic “The Young Victoria” from producers Graham King and Martin Scorsese says The Hollywood Reporter.
Written by Julian Fellowes (“Gosford Park”), the Jean-Marc Vallee directed film has Bettany playing Lord Melbourne, the adviser who helped Britain’s Queen Victoria (Emily Blunt) learn about government and politics.
Kretschmann will play Victoria’s uncle, King Leopold of Belgium. Rupert Friend, Miranda Richardson and Jim Broadbent also star.
“Victoria” began its 10-week shoot this past Monday in the UK.
