Filmmaker Luc Besson (“The Fifth Element,” “Lucy”) is keen for everyone to check out his sci-fi epic “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets,” so keen in fact that he’s already begging people to check it out so that he can make a sequel.
Talking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Besson says he’s already got the followup mapped out but really needs the first to be a hit before he can think about doing another one.
“Please, please [make ‘Valerian’ successful] because I want to do the second one. I have [the story]. I just have to be patient and humble, because you can’t start before you know if the first one works or not. So I’m eating my nails and waiting. But I have the second one, the second one is great. Go to the first one, so I can do the second one, please!”
The comic book adaptation is Besson’s dream project and stars the likes of Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Herbie Hancock and Kris Wu in a galactic sci-fi epic.
We’ll finally get a first look for ourselves in a few weeks when the first trailer goes online on November 10th. “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets” opens on July 21st 2017.
