Director Peter Berg (“Hancock,” “The Kingdom”) has locked down his next projects in a two-picture deal with Universal Pictures reports Variety.
The first, “Battleship”, is a a live-action adaptation of Hasbro’s board game. The contemporary story is set amidst an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle.
Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber penned the script and Universal has set a July 1st 2011 release date. Shooting kicks off next Spring.
Berg will immediately follow that with the Afghan war drama “Lone Survivor” for the studio.
As a result of this deal both the “Dune” remake” and “Hancock” sequel have been put on hold and will be developed later.
