Actor and comedian Ben Schwartz has been tapped to voice the title character in the live-action/CG hybrid “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie at Paramount Pictures.
James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and Jim Carrey also star in the film based on the classic SEGA games about a superfast blue hedgehog named Sonic who is on a quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik (Carrey), a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds. Carrey recently confirmed that his Robotnik character will be live-action.
Jeff Fowler (“Gopher Broke”) helms the film which Neal H. Moritz is producing. The movie is currently targeting a November 15th 2019 release.
Schwartz is currently voicing Dewey Duck on Disney Channel’s reboot of “Duck Tales” and Leonardo in the upcoming “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” series.
