Bello, Breslin and Jackson Up For “Rape”

Maria Bello, Abigail Breslin and Samuel L. Jackson have joined the indie drama “Rape: A Love Story” for Patriot Pictures reports Variety.

Based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2003 novella, the story centers on a mother (Bello) recovering from a brutal gang rape who is stalked by the perpetrators but is protected by a sympathetic cop (Jackson).

Breslin will play the woman’s 12-year-old daughter, who witnesses the attack.

Veteran TV writer John Mankiewicz (“House”) adapted the screenplay and Harold Becker (“Domestic Disturbance”) will direct.

Michael Mendelsohn is producing and filming is scheduled to start in June.
