Beheading Pulled From “Doctor Who” Episode

Following the recent deaths of journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, footage from this week’s episode “Doctor Who” has been removed by the BBC.

The BBC reports that the sequence involved a character being beheaded, the scene in question is a fight scene between Robin Hood (Tom Riley) and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Miller).

A spokesman says: “In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.” The episode, which was filmed in February, airs later tonight in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

The removal follows recent video footage released online of journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff being beheaded by militants.

This also follows an awkward PR event earlier this week in which promotion for the second season of FOX’s “Sleepy Hollow” called for a ‘Headless Day’ – just hours before news of the second journalist’s death hit the airwaves. Fox quickly apologised for the awkward incident.
