Kate Beckinsale is reportedly set to star as US Marshall Carrie Stetko, the heroine in Joel Silver’s planned adaptation of the 1998 graphic novel “Whiteout”.
The original mini-series followed Stetko, a U.S. Marshal working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and her investigation of a murder that takes place there. The work won the Eisner Award in 1999 for its quality.
Silver is producing the film which has been in the works for several years, with Reese Witherspoon being attached back in 2002. The news of Beckinsale’s involvement comes from filmIck.
The $10-40 million budget flick is scheduled to hit theatres sometime in 2008.
