Garcelle Beauvais and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha have joined the cast of the sequel to the popular 1988 comedy “Coming to America” at Paramount Pictures.
Craig Brewer helms the film in which Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy), who is set to become King of Zamunda, discovers he has a son he never knew about in America – a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler).
Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom this son as the crowned prince, Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) set off to America. Beauvais is returning to one of her first-ever roles as a rose petal priestess. Mbatha’s role is under wraps.
Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, James Earl Jones and Shari Headley also star in the film which begins shooting next week. Paramount has set a December 18th 2020 release date.
