“Slumdog Millionaire” and “127 Hours” scribe Simon Beaufoy is being sought to adapt the screenplay for “Catching Fire”, the sequel to the upcoming “The Hunger Games” movie adaptation says Deadline.
Originally the novel trilogy’s author Suzanne Collins and ‘Games’ director Gary Ross, who together penned most of the ‘Games’ film script, were to do the same for the sequel as well.
However the tight post-production schedule on ‘Games’ means Ross won’t have time to work on the “Catching Fire” script. Beaufoy is now being pursued but no discussions have yet begun.
Ross is expected to return to direct “Catching Fire” which Lionsgate has already set for a November 22nd 2013 release.
