“Beasts” Headed For $200M Global Opening

Five years on since the last “Harry Potter” film and the first of five proposed upcoming spin-off films “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has begun opening up in worldwide territories.

At present, the film is eyeing a big debut of between $70-75 million at the U.S. domestic box-office, and do more than $125 million at the international box office – and that doesn’t include China which gets it next week.

Costing a sizeable $180 million to make, the story follows Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he tries to retrieve magical creatures that have escaped from his valise and are running wild through 1920’s New York City.
