Director Charlie Bean (“The LEGO Ninjango Movie”) has been set as director of the live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1955 animated classic “Lady and the Tramp”.
The story focuses on Lady, a cocker spaniel belonging to a well-to-do family, and Tramp, a streetwise mutt. After her owners have a baby, Lady finds herself out on the streets left to fend for herself. When Lady finds herself in danger, Tramp saves the day and tries to teach her that there’s more to life than the inside of a house.
The film will mix live-action and CGI together and is tipped to be one of the key early titles for Disney’s digital streaming service which launches in 2019 and plans to release four to six movies per year.
Andrew Bujalksi penned the script. Bean is best known for his work in animation on shows such as “Samurai Jack” and “Dexter’s Laboratory”. He also directed all but one episode of Disney XD’s “Tron Uprising”.
