The BBC is set to end the Aidan Turner-led period drama “Poldark” after five seasons.
Based on the twelve-book saga by author Winston Graham, the series follows Ross Poldark as he returns to Cornwall following the American War of Independence.
A shock twist at the end of the fourth season saw Elizabeth, Ross’ former lover, killed off by post-natal complications.
Filming is now underway on the fifth season and executive producer Karen Thrussell says that despite this being the end – the door is open for further episodes or telemovies down the line.
Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson are set to return for the new series alongside Jack Farthing, Luke Norris, Gabriella Wilde, Ellise Chappell, Harry Richardson, Tom York and Beatie Edney.
