BBC’s “Luther” Gets A Russian Remake

The BBC’s acclaimed detective drama “Luther” is set to be remade for Russian TV network Channel One.

BBC Worldwide and production firm Sreda made the deal for this new adaptation which will be called “Klim”. Eight hour-long episodes will be produced starting this August ahead of a 2015 airing.

Sreda’s co-owener Alexander Tsekalo says: “Everyone’s looking for the next Sherlock, and we think Klim, our version of Luther, will be it!”

Russia is proving a booming market for British shows right now, and “Luther” isn’t the first British drama to be remade there – much like the United States, the Russians also came up with their own version of “Life on Mars”.
