BBC Films Adapts Muchamore’s Teen Spy

Despite the dismal failure of British teen spy thriller “Stormbreaker” a few years back, BBC Films is trying the formula again and commissioned a script based on Robert Muchamore’s ‘Cherub’ five book series says The Celebrity Cafe.

Described as more “Bourne than Bond”, there’ll still be kid staples including skateboard chases and lots of action. Ronan Bennett has penned the screenplay and helmer Chris Smith (“Creep”) will direct. Shooting is aiming to kick off in August.

More promising is the company is developing several other projects including “The Buried” for James Watkins (“Eden Lake”) to direct, and big budget adaptations of both Vera Brittain’s classic WWI memoir “Testament of Youth” and Posy Symmonds’ graphic novel “Tamara Drewe” in the works.
