Despite its reputation for women in bikinis, men in short shorts (and occasionally speedos), and all of them often wet and running in slow motion, the original 1990s “Baywatch” was a family series and so wasn’t one for raciness or eroticism beyond the most basic of titillation.
That won’t be the case with the upcoming film adaptation starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. The R-rated action comedy plans to very much live up to its rating, and that includes a bunch of nudity and naughtiness. Johnson tells The Sun:
“We are far dirtier than the show ever was – obviously the show was a family show on at family time of day – but in the movie we could have been dirtier. I think people are going to be shocked that ‘Baywatch’ has got dirty, but there are a lot of laughs.
We worked hard to make sure the flesh quota was high; there’s more gratuitous boobs, bums, abs, whatever per minute than you can imagine. Plot was important, don’t get me wrong, but so was sorting out our slow-motion runs.”
David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, stars of the original series, will appear in the film which also stars Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach and Alexandra Daddario. The film opens May 26th.
