Bautista Films Get New Scribes & “Raid” Star

Wrestler turned “Guardians of the Galaxy” scene-stealer Dave Bautista has seen two of his projects score some new personnel.

“The Raid” star Iko Uwais has joined the cast of the Bautista-led action comedy “Stuber” for 20th Century Fox. Bautista plays a determined detective who commandeers an unsuspecting Uber and its driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) over one night of hijinks and mayhem.

Tripper Clancy penned the script while Michael Dowse is directing, and specifics of Uwais’ character are under wraps. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are producing.

The news comes as STXfilms have brought screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber (“Red,” “Battleship”) onboard to pen a presently untitled family action-comedy starring Bautista as a hardened CIA operative who finds himself at the mercy of a precocious nine-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family. Bautista and Jonathan Meisner will serve as producers.
