Batman v Superman Empire Covers, More Talk

Foillowing on from yesterday’s photos, Empire has released two new cover images themed around Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” for their next issue. At the same time, they’ve released some proper digital versions of yesterday’s photos along with some quotes from the film’s stars.

Henry Cavill, who plays Superman in the film, says in the new story Clark Kent is living with Lois Lane and the world remains unsure whether his Superman persona is a hero or tyrant. Either way, he’s certainly more experienced at his job:

“He’s more used to this gig, doing his best to save as many lives as he can. He is no longer frantic. He’s no longer a wet behind the ears kind of superhero.”

He also isn’t very happy with Batman and his brutal methods:

“He doesn’t agree with his form of justice. For this farm boy, who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with. It’s not about one on one. Of course Superman is going to win. But it’s deeper than that. It’s more that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to achieve the same thing, but in such different way.”

Cavill also spoke about why he won’t do the bumbling klutz routine as Clark Kent which Chris Reeve did in the classic “Superman” films:

“He is the human side of the character, but there is often this idea that Clark and Superman must be so different. He can only get away with wearing the glasses so much. If he’s drawing attention to himself by being clumsy, that’s not going to work.”

Producer Charles Roven adds that Superman’s hesitancy over Batman is with good reason – seems The Bat is much more violent in this incarnation:

“He is more than a vigilante, he has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner. He’s seen the worst of what man can do, he’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess. [He’s] lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens March 25th.
