One of the more anticipated new basic cable series premieres of the Fall opened to solid if unspectacular numbers last night.
FX’s “The Bastard Executioner,” the new 14th century-set drama series from “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter, scored 2.12 million viewers overall and a 0.83 rating in Live+Same Day figures.
It was the No. 1 cable original of the night in 18-49 and all male demos. Compared to other shows on the network, that rating was also above the launches of the likes of “Fargo,” “Tyrant” and “The Bridge” but below ‘Sons’, “The Americans” and “The Strain”.
FX’s shows usually fare very well in DVR playback so the time shifted numbers are likely to push that rating a lot higher.
