Barry Jenkins Does A Deal With Amazon

Oscar-winning “Moonlight” and “Medicine for Melancholy” director Barry Jenkins and his PASTEL production company have set a first-look television deal at Amazon.

Jenkins was already slated to direct the entire limited series “Underground Railroad” at Amazon, based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. With the new deal, he will also exclusively develop new television series for Amazon Studios.

Jenkins’ highly anticipated third film “If Beale Street Could Talk,” based on James Baldwin’s novel, premiered at Toronto to rave reviews and opens in U.S. cinemas on November 30th.
