14-year-old Michael Barbieri (“Little Men”) is in negotiations to join the cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” for Sony Pictures. He will play one of Peter Parker’s friends, a new one inspired by Ganke from the “Ultimate Spider-Man” comics.
Barbieri originally auditioned for the role of Peter Parker and made enough of an impression he was invited back. He is supposed to report to Pinewood Atlanta this month ahead of filming this summer.
Jon Watts directs this Marvel-approved reboot of the franchise starring Tom Holland, but specifics about the plot are unknown. Other cast members include Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier and possibly Michael Keaton as the villain.
Barbieri was most recently cast as Timmy in Sony’s currently filming adaptation of Stephen King’s fantasy saga “The Dark Tower”.
