Banks Won’t Helm “Pitch Perfect 3”

Elizabeth Banks has stepped down as director of the comedy sequel at “Pitch Perfect 3” at Universal Pictures.

Banks’ departure was reportedly amicable and is said to be due to her busy schedule which has her not only starring in various films but also attached to direct the “Charlie’s Angels” reboot at Sony and an adaptation of Victoria Aveyard’s young adult novel “Red Queen” at Universal.

Her departure is almost certainly the reason Universal shifted the film’s release date from July 21st 2017 to December 22nd 2017. Anna Kendrick, Britanny Snow and Rebel Wilson have already been confirmed to headline the returning cast of the third film.
