Eric Bana has scored the lead role opposite Connie Britton (“Gladiator,” “Wonder Woman”) in the upcoming Bravo true-crime anthology series “Dirty John” which has already received a two-season order.
Bana, who first made his name on Australian comedy television before transitioning to Hollywood films, makes his U.S. TV debut as John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps Debra Newell (Britton) off her feet and pulls her into his web of lies.
The story is based on the series of articles published by the Los Angeles Times’ last fall and chronicles the true story of how a romance with Meehan spiralled into secrets, denial and manipulation.
Alexandra Cunningham will pen the adaptation for Universal Cable Productions. She will also executive produce alongside Richard Suckle, Charles Roven, Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen, and Chris Argentieri.
